Runners taking off from the starting line at a past Rotary Huron Shore Run event.

Hub Staff

The Rotary Huron Shore Run (RHSR) is set to return on Saturday, May 31, 2025 in support of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) and local youth and community initiatives.

Runners, walkers, volunteers, and supporters will come together to trek along the Lake Huron shoreline for a morning of community and impact. Since 1988 the RHSR has taken place in support of local health and youth programs in Saugeen Shores with this year's event offering a variety of distances including a 5K run/walk, a 10K run, and a new, flatter waterfront 21.1K half marathon. Families can also participate in the free Kids Fun Run.

All routes will start on High Street in Southampton and follow a scenic route south towards Port Elgin before looping back to Southampton.

Organizers said that proceeds from the 2025 event will go in support of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, specifically Brightshores investment in an Automated Dispensing Unit (ADU), an enhanced medication system enabling nurses to access medications quickly and accurately, especially in emergencies.

In addition, proceeds will benefit the Saugeen Track and Field Club, Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Club, Breakers Swim Team, the Chantry Seniors' Centre, and the Rotary Clubs of Southampton, Port Elgin, and Saugeen Shores.

The RHSR is an Athletics Ontario sanctioned event and all abilities and ages are welcome. Registration is set to take place at the Southampton Coliseum on Friday, May 30 at 5 to 7:30pm with race day kicking off early Saturday morning.
