Bruce County is holding a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at the Bruce County Transportation Yard, 242 Canrobert Street in Paisley from 8am to 12pm.

"This is your opportunity to clear out hazardous material from your home, garage, or basement and make sure it's handled responsibly," read a June 4 media release from the County.

Materials accepted include paints and stains, propane tanks, used oil, aerosols, batteries, antifreeze, oil filters, solvents, household cleaners, fluorescent lights, fertilizers, fuel, pharmaceuticals, fire extinguishers, pesticides, and pool chemicals.

The full list is available at brucecounty.on.ca/sites/default/files/accepted_household_hazardous_and_special_waste_materials_2.pdf.

Commercial waste, agricultural waste, industrial waste, PCBs, ammunitions, and flares will not be accepted.

Only containers with 30 litres or less will be accepted and waste must be received in containers that can be disposed of. Containers, such as gas cans, will not be emptied and returned. Empty metal paint cans are blue box recyclable.

Those attending the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event must remain in their vehicles. Place materials to be collected in the open trunk for event staff.

Collection events are happening in Bruce County until September 27. To see the full schedule, visit brucecounty.on.ca/sites/default/files/2025%20Hazardous%20Waste%20Event%20Schedule.pdf.
