How should we celebrate; public input request

canada150 fullThe Saugeen Shores Canada 150th Committee is looking for input and ideas in the planning of Saugeen Shores’ celebration for Canada’s 150th birthday in 2017. No idea is too big or too small. Tell them what you would like to see in 2017.

The committee would like to see concepts that follow their theme “Past, Present & Future” and:

• encourage participants to give back to Canada through gifts of time and energy, in ways that leave a legacy for the future;
• provide Canadians with opportunities to actively participate and/or celebrate together, promoting and building a deeper understanding of Canada, its people and what it means to be Canadian;
• recognize and promote exceptional Canadian people, places, achievements and events that continue to shape the country

Although the committee would like the public to volunteer and join the celebrations and even potentially the committee(s); putting forward an idea does not commit the submitter to any further obligation. The committee is just looking to garner input from the whole community as they move forward with the Canada 150th event planning.

The committee is accepting event submissions on their online event form here. It should take less than 15 minutes to complete. Or pick up paper copies at both the Port Elgin and Southampton Tourism Information offices. Please have your ideas to the committee no later than February 9, 2016.

To view a working calendar of regular and existing events for 2017, a calendar link can be found here. Please be sure to suggest a date for your event or add an idea onto an already existing event. Not all events are listed yet. You must scroll to 2017 in the to view the list so far.
