The weather couldn't have been more perfect as families came in droves to École Port Elgin Saugeen Central (ÉPESC) for their Fun Fair, June 2.

Fun Fair, a fundraising event organized by the School Community Council (SCC), with the help of a host of volunteers and local businesses, raises money to help a variety of school projects.

From obstacle courses to throwing games, around 25 different games in all, aimed at all grade levels, littered the school yard.

With hot dogs, hamburgers and pulled pork sandwiches, the barbecue was a crowd pleasing stop for hungry adults and children alike.

Another popular stop was the new outdoor classroom which was funded, in part, by proceeds from last year's Fun Fair. This year the classroom was home to a large number of silent auction baskets, each a different theme; from a baking basket, to a day at the beach; and even a Canada Day basket.

Each basket was created by an individual class. The students in the class were given the theme, then they each brought in one item for the basket.

Just like last year’s event, this year’s Fun Fair exceeded SCC’s expectations raising approximately $8,000 in just two hours. Some of the funds raised will go to purchase new equipment for the school’s Physical Education department.
