Prepare to laugh out load as the second annual Saugeen Shores Comedy Festival takes place August 25 to 27. For three nights comedians will take the stage at three different establishments in the area. Tickets can be purchased at each venue or online for the price of $35 dollars for each show. Five dollars from each online ticket sold will go to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.

The opening show, the “Thursday Night Mic” will take place at Chester’s Bar & Grill in Port Elgin and will feature talent such as: Cedric Newman, James Hammond, Paul Thompson, Marianne Gibson and Comedy Festival organizer Blair Streeter.

Further south in Kincardine at Gilley’s Feed Lot, wanted to get in on the laughs and will host the second evening, featuring headliner, “That Canadian Guy” Glen Foster.

The “O Good Gala” will feature the “best” stand-up comics of the festival at Lakeshore Recreation in Port Elgin.

Last year’s inaugural event brought quick witted talent to the area, and this year promises to be no different as many of the featured comics are notable Yuk Yuk’s performers.

In an August 19 interview, comedian and organizer Blair Streeter, a native of Saugeen Shores, said many of last year’s comedians are returning for this year’s festival. “We have ‘That Canadian Guy’ Glen Foster returning this year and Cedric Newman, who’s a headliner with Yuk Yuk’s, coming up to all three shows. On Saturday night we have Terry Clement, he’s also a Yuk Yuk’s comedian, he’s toured the world and has a big following in the U.K. and South Africa,” Streeter said.

He divulged that Clement uses multimedia during his act and that there may be some music involved. Clement is an inspiration to Streeter and Street said he can’t wait to show him Saugeen Shores.

As host, Streeter has plenty of Saugeen Shores material at the ready but admitted he is still working on his set. “I don’t know if I’m going to do a music set or if I’m going to talk about where I’m at this summer, because it’s been really pretty busy for me.”
