Pride Month is underway and Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre (BCM&CC) has announced a CBC Doc film screening of "Take Me to Prom" on Thursday, June 8, 2023.

"Take Me to Prom is a critically acclaimed CBC documentary that explores the experiences of queer youth preparing for and attending their high school proms," read a recent media release from BCM&CC. "The film delves into the emotional journey of young individuals across seven decades as they navigate the challenges of self-expression, acceptance, and identity."

The screening is set to take place from 7 to 9pm on Thursday, June 8 and will be followed by an in-person Q&A with Canadian film director Andrew Moir and an interactive discussion led by a panel of community members, advocates, and allies.

"This thought-provoking conversation will provide an opportunity for attendees to share their perspectives, ask questions, and gain insights into the experiences portrayed in the film," read the release.

The event is free and those wishing to attend are encouraged to RSVP by clicking here.

Presented in association with CBC. Funding for this project is provided by Community Foundation Grey Bruce.

Pride Month takes place each year during the month of June and honours the experiences and history of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
