On July 22, Saugeen Shores officially opened the 25th Anniversary Student Artwork Exhibit at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre (BCM&CC).

The exhibit is titled "The Spirit of Living in Saugeen Shores" and will be available for in-person viewing until September 2, 2024. The exhibit is also be available to view digitally at www.saugeenshores.ca/25th.

“Town Council would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all Saugeen Shores students who, through their individual creativity, portrayed the spirit of living in our community in their artwork,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau in a July 23 media release.

Southampton and Port Elgin students in Grades 5 and 10 were called to participate earlier this year by submitting artwork that celebrated "the spirit of living in Saugeen Shores." Submissions were received from Ms Angie Wilke's Grade 5/6 class at St Joseph's School in Port Elgin. They have been photographed in order to be digitally stored in a community time capsule.

With the help of the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce, the Town sponsored the time capsule project to capture local memories, photographs and items commemorating the last 25 years since the amalgamation of Saugeen Township, Port Elgin and Southampton.

"This endeavour was made possible by the generous donation of the locally crafted time capsule by Mayor Luke Charbonneau and family," read the release.
