The Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries secures office space in Port Elgin

ocniThe Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI) announced today that it has secured space for a satellite office at 625 Goderich Street in Port Elgin.

In a January 12 media release, OCNI is an association with more than 240 member suppliers to the nuclear industry in Canada and in offshore markets.

The new office will support OCNI member companies in fostering stronger working relationships with Bruce Power and its employees who provide services to Bruce Power’s ongoing operations, Life-Extension Program, and site infrastructure investments.

“We are pleased to see OCNI establish a local presence to support Bruce Power’s robust local supply network,” said Richard Horrobin, Bruce Power’s Vice President and Managing Director of Supply Chain. “The local OCNI office will enhance our Economic Development and Innovation Initiative by connecting OCNI member companies to leverage their unique technologies and capabilities in support of our Life-Extension Program and ongoing operations to 2064.”

OCNI’s Port Elgin office will also provide meeting space where member companies can collaborate to offer innovative solutions to Bruce Power’s operational and Major Component Replacement (MCR) Project opportunities, said Ron Oberth, OCNI’s President and CEO, adding that OCNI suppliers will continue to play a major role in supporting the upcoming generation of power at the Bruce site for the next 50 years.

“Our members also want to contribute to regional economic development, local job creation and investment by helping to create innovation clusters that encourage cross fertilization of ideas and inventions,” Oberth added.

Bruce County Warden Paul Eagleson welcomed OCNI to the community. “On behalf of the region, I congratulate OCNI for its expansion of services into our communities,” the Warden said. “Connecting suppliers with each other and local community leaders is a great step in us reaching our goal of establishing a nuclear energy economic hub in the region.”
