The sixth annual Town of Saugeen Shores Health and Wellness Fair which followed the 30th annual Rotary Huron Shore Run, June 2 was well attended and featured many physical, naturopathic and fun ways to learn and enjoy being well and active in and around the Saugeen Shores community.
Many athletes who took part in the Rotary Huron Shore Run attended the Wellness Fair to grab a quick snack provided by the Walker House in Southampton and pick up a few awards for their participation while others cleaned up on the podium.
Rotary Huron Show Run co-organizers John and June Van Bastelaar thanked their committed team and volunteers for helping put on the 30th annual event and thanked all who got pledges and ran the races earlier in the morning.
A highlight of the event were the 26 teams who raised money and participated in the fundraiser for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital, the Saugeen Track and Field Club and Rotary Clubs of both Port and Southampton.
Top fund-raising teams were: Walker House with $8,600, Barry’s Construction with $5,000, Scotiabank Port Elgin with $3,390, Up & Atom with $2,205, CFUW Southport with $2,125, It’s Jenny’s Birthday with $500, and Spongebob Slow Pants with $490.
The 30th annual Huron Shore Run top individual fundraisers were: Marlene McFarlane with $5,065, Robert Ho with $2.655, Mary Putnum with $2,650, Sarah Putnam with $1,500, Melody Preston with $1,030, Pat Managuan with $775, Nancy McKinnon with $620, Jamie McKinnon with $500, Heather Conlin with $425, Cathy Sprague with $275, and Kim Bernes with $275.
The Kamp for Kids hula set was well attended during the sixth annual Health and Wellness Fair, June 2.

After a technical glitch was corrected Britt Hern of Toronto was announced as third fastest female in the half-marathon.
