Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) launched a Healthcare Lottery April 10 and it has already generated community buzz and ticket sales. The lottery offers 21 chances to win a myriad of prizes. There will be four weekly draws beginning mid-November and four grand prize draws on December 12, just in time for Christmas.

Prizes were generously donated by local sponsors including Mowbray’s Canadian Tire, Destinations Unlimited and Square Deal Neil’s, all of whom are “just as excited as we are to be a part of this new Lottery," reported Tracy Murray, Executive Director of SMHF.

In addition, there will be an Early Bird draw taking place July 8 for $1,000 and 12 Back to School Giveaways on September 19. Your ticket will remain in the lottery even if participants win one of the earlier prizes.

“We are really looking forward to the excitement of all the draws in the coming months and especially the Grand Prize draw at Radiothon in December," said Murray. "Who wouldn’t want to win $10,000 or a cruise right before Christmas," she said.

Tickets are $40 each or three for $100 and available for purchase in Port Elgin at Mowbray’s Canadian Tire, Tiny’s Motorcycle Shop, Sutton-Huron Shores Realty and Ralph’s. In Southampton, they can be purchased at the SMHF office, Square Deal Neil’s, Martin’s Home Hardware and Southport Golf Course. Outside of Saugeen Shores, tickets can be purchased at Allen’s Home Hardware in Paisley, Mill's Home Hardware in Tara, Aiken Bros Home Hardware in Allenford or Patz Pizza in Tiverton.

“It is our goal that the lottery will become an annual fundraiser for the Hospital Foundation that will get bigger and better each year as new sponsors come on board," said Murray.
