To mark Mental Health Week May 6 to 12, Bruce Power will hold its fourth annual Break the Silence social media campaign on Friday, May 10 and is asking for the public’s support to break the stigma of mental health.

In a Bruce Power media release May 2, community members are encouraged to use the hashtag #BreaktheSilence19 on Twitter and like or share the Break the Silence video from Bruce Power's Facebook page and Instagram account. Each time one of these occurs, Bruce Power will donate $1 to local mental health initiatives.

“Mental health incidents or issues affect one in five Canadians every year,” said Cathy Sprague, Bruce Power’s Executive Vice President, Human Resources. “Bruce Power wants to support local organizations that help ensure people can get the help they need. Stigma is a major barrier to people seeking help, so it is important we continue to break down the barriers and talk about mental health.”

Since 2016, Bruce Power’s #BreaktheSilence social media campaign has resulted in more than $240,000 in donations to mental health initiatives.
