A glorious Saturday evening on August 8th for the Port Elgin Rotary Club as it hosted its second annual Ribfest at North Shore Park in Port Elgin from 5pm to 11pm.

Pork back ribs, corn on the cob, salads, rolls and dessert were all on the menu, while alcohol was also available at this licenced event. The Easy Street Band entertained families and friends as they relaxed and enjoyed their meals while supporting a great cause.

Chair of the event, Rotarian Mark Kraemer explains, “The intent here is to raise money for the commitment we've made to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital expansion. We've committed $75,000 to that and proceeds of this event are going to go through to our annual commitment. We're trying to knock that down by $15,000 a year.”

Rotarian Pier Donnini of the Queen's Bar and Grill in Port Elgin was catering the event with his own special ribs and sauce.

“Pier does a great job on them. He and his staff spend all week cooking them at the Queen's,” said fellow Rotarian Gerry Moss who explained that last year they had to turn people away and so had brought in more food this year. “We've already sold more tickets than last year. We're hoping to have 500 people tonight,” he said.BandBBQEatingFamilyFred Shildroff Kent Milroy Doug Gowanlock Mark Kraemer
