The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation would like to thank all those who have donated to their Light the Way Christmas Campaign but are still a long way off their $130,000 mark.

Update 3As of December 8, just under $47,000 had been raised and Sally Kidson, Executive Director for the Foundation, said this total comes mostly from individuals donating between $25 and $100. In an email to The Hub, Kidson wrote, “That is incredible support from families! We’ve also had some wonderful corporate support, but we are falling far short of our $130,000 goal.”

Since its inception, Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Light the Way campaign has raised a total of $1,021,275.

“We have tried to do a few extra things this year,” Kidson wrote. “Traditionally, Light the Way has been a direct mail campaign and also some seed mail (unaddressed mail) has been sent out. This year, we have sent out 3,000 letters and we are trying to involve families in the campaign through participation in the parade, the radio commercials about the elf who fell off the shelf and needed to go to the hospital; and our colouring contest.” Kidson added that if everyone gave $10 it would bring them to $120,000, very near their $130,000 goal.

Any donations given to Light the Way go to help with equipment purchases and facility upgrades for Saugeen Memorial Hospital in Southampton.
“This year, our focus is on a new Holmium Laser (used to blast kidney stones) and a new ENT Video Tower, among many other pieces of equipment,” wrote Kidson.
