Reports of a male photographing teenage girls: police

SS Police5 fullOn August 10 at 2:46 p.m., police responded to reports of a male seen on the beach at Front and Beach streets photographing teenage females on the beach. The male may have been driving a pick up truck. Anyone who sees someone acting suspiciously or taking pictures of a similar nature is asked to call police.

At 12:06 p.m. on August 11 police and ambulance responded to a residence in Saugeen Shores for a report of a deceased 40 year old female. The female was confirmed deceased and later transported to London Health Sciences Centre for a post mortem examination. The investigation has been assigned to the Saugeen Shores Criminal Investigations Unit. No foul play is suspected. The name is being withheld at the request of the next of kin. There are no concerns for public safety.

There were a total of 184 incidents reported to Saugeen Shores Police between August 8 and August 14.

Police would like to take this opportunity to remind people that because of the hotter temperatures as has been experienced in Saugeen Shores these last couple of weeks, it is good to remember that tempers are short, patience is a virtue, take that extra second at stop signs, don’t leave your dog in a vehicle, be kind and be safe.

On August 14 at 2:48 a.m. police stopped a vehicle on Concession 10. The driver failed a roadside breath test and was brought to the station. The 31 year old Saugeen Shores male provided breath samples of 100 mgms and 100 mgms, the legal limit is 80 mgms. The male received a 90 day driver’s licence suspension (ADLS) and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

At 11:36 a.m. on August 14 someone caused damage to three vehicles on Mill Street. The radio antennas were broken on all three vehicles.

On August 14 at 2:11 p.m. it was reported to police that some time over the past two weeks a cottage had been broken into. A window was broken and a small bag of tools were stolen.

At 4 p.m. on August 14 police responded to a threatening complaint in Port Elgin. After investigation a 15 year old male young offender was arrested for Uttering Threats to Cause Death and Breach of Probation.

At 4:29 p.m. on August 14 a bicycle was stolen from the rear of a Parkwood Avenue home.

On August 14 at 9:26 p.m. a downtown Port Elgin bar called police suspecting a male was doing cocaine in the washroom. The drug turned out to be a prescription medication but the 39 year old Saugeen Shores male was wanted on warrants from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on Mischief and Fail to Appear. The male was lodged in the cells then turned over to the OPP.

On August 13 at 2 a.m. an 18 year old Oakville female called police from downtown Southampton and reported herself as being intoxicated. Police arrived and she was intoxicated and no one in the apartment she was visiting was sober enough to take responsibility for her. She was lodged in the cells until sober.

At 1:38 p.m. on August 13 a pop machine had been broken into at the Chippewa Golf Course. Over the same time period the pop machine in front of JC’s on Goderich Street had been broken into and change was stolen.

On August 11 at 7:59 a.m. an unlocked vehicle had been entered some time overnight on Linden Court, money was stolen.

On August 11 at 10:31 a.m. police responded to a report of an assault at a Saugeen Shores residence. After investigation a 24 year old Saugeen First Nation female was charged with three counts of Assault, three counts of Breach of Probation and Forcible Confinement.

At 10:38 a.m. on August 11 it was reported that a trailer licence plate was stolen from a Saugeen Shores residence.

At 10:38 a.m. on August 11 a motor vehicle collision occurred at Market and Waterloo Street. A vehicle was east on Market stopped for the stop at Waterloo then proceeded. Another vehicle was north on Waterloo stopped for the stop sign then proceeded striking the first vehicle. The driver of the north bound vehicle was charged.

At 3:11 p.m. on August 11 police responded to a break and enter to a garage on Wellington Street. A wallet, cash and several pellet guns were stolen.

At 4:33 p.m. on August 11 someone smashed a side window out of a vehicle at the Port Elgin Beach and a purse was stolen from inside.

On August 10 at 12:01 a.m. a bear was spotted at Grosvenor and Clarendon Streets in Southampton.

At August 8 at 12:13 a.m. a bicycle was reported stolen while the owner was at the movie theatre.

At 11:49 a.m. on August 8 a vehicle was backing into a parking spot on High Street and struck another parked car, no injuries.

At 5 p.m. on August 8 police responded to an assault complaint. After investigation a 72 year old Saugeen Shores male was arrested and charged with Uttering threats, Assault with a weapon and Breach of an Undertaking. He was held for a bail hearing.

9:51 p.m. on August 8 it was reported that at some point in the previous four hours someone slashed the tires on a bicycle and carved an “H” into the bike seat. No suspects.
