Nuclear Innovation Institute has submitted an open letter to Mayor Mike Smith, Deputy Mayor Luke Charbonneau and Saugeen Shores Council.

Mayor and Council,

On behalf of the Nuclear Innovation Institute (NII), we would like to thank you for your ongoing support for locating the Nuclear Innovation Institute in the Town of Saugeen Shores.

As you are aware, on November 9 we announced that the preferred location, adjacent Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton, would no longer be pursued due to public debate over the location creating a distraction from this incredibly exciting opportunity for our region.

In order for the NII to be successful, we need the support of the host community and we appreciate the strong supportive messages we have received from the Town of Saugeen Shores, from its ongoing and incoming mayor, municipal council, and many community members, in consideration of another location within the Town of Saugeen Shores.

We look forward to working with you to consider a future location in the Municipality of Saugeen Shores and will continue to pursue options within Saugeen Shores prior to exploring other locations across Bruce County, and, as discussed, we look forward to reviewing the Town's proposal early in the new year.

Sincerely,

Frank Saunders,
President, Nuclear Innovation Institute
