The community is once again invited to socialize and dine together Christmas Eve at the Living Hope Christian Centre in Port Elgin’s Maple Square Mall, 515 Goderich Street.

The annual Christmas Eve tradition is prepared by the Queen's Bar and Grill and Head Chef Kate Brewer said that in past years they have prepared approximately 400 meals. The meal is free and Brewer said that it is open to everyone. "Nobody is turned away," she said.

“We work all day with volunteers to do a turkey dinner,” said Brewer. “We probably have between 30 to 40 volunteers with everything from prepping to dinner to driving,” she explained. For anyone in Port Elgin, Southampton or Saugeen First Nation unable to make it to the Centre, a delivery service is available.

Living Hope Pastor Trish Verburg said it's a great partnership the Centre has with the Queen's and the Queen's owner Pier Donini, remarking that they are "hugely blessed."

“We're providing the facilities and our people obviously come but it's all on Pier and his people for organizing and drumming up the volunteers and it's a wonderful thing," she said.

Anyone unable to attend can arrange delivery of a meal by calling 519-832-6331 or emailing amclaren@bmts.com.
