The Town of Saugeen Shores would like to thank the Power Workers’ Union for their generous donation of $2,500 to the Junior Fire Program. The funds will be put toward a new fire extinguisher trainer to provide hands-on training to the Junior Fire participants as well as to other staff and residents of Saugeen Shores.

“We are now in our 30th year of the Junior Fire Program in Saugeen Shores,” said Saugeen Shores Fire Prevention Officer, Rob Atkinson. “Community support like this donation from the Power Workers’ Union goes a long way in helping us run this valuable program for area youth.”

The Junior Firefighters Program teaches students about home fire safety initiatives, first aid, fire truck operations and auto extrication. It's a six week program that runs from the last week in April until the graduation ceremony in June. Information and registration forms are expected to be distributed to the appropriate age groups through schools around mid March.
