The North Shore Trail has been closed between Concession 10 and North Shore Park in Port Elgin due to severe damage from wave action. Barricades have been placed along the trail and signage is currently being posted to alert the public to the closures.

In an April 16 media release from the Town of Saugeen Shores, with higher lake levels continuing into the summer, this section of trail is closed completely for the time being. Town staff will evaluate whether it can be partially opened for safe use during the summer season.

“As the weather warms up, we all love to get out on the trails, while practicing good physical distancing,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “With more than 40 kilometres of trails in our community, there are many other safe options for exploring Saugeen Shores.”

RETHINKING YARD/GARAGE SALES

While many love treasure hunting through spring yard and garage sales, during the COVID-19 pandemic is not the time. The provincial orders restricting gatherings of more than five people suggest that this community tradition should be postponed.
