Sometime overnight, between December 13 and 14, 2021, two boxes containing cremated remains were removed from TA Brown Funeral Home in Port Elgin. Saugeen Shores Police located other items that had been taken on a nearby property but the cremated remains have not been found.

The person(s) responsible may not have known that the boxes contained cremated remains, said Saugeen Shores Police in a December 15 media release, and after learning of their contents may have discarded the boxes.

Police are asking the public, particularly those who reside near TA Brown at 510 Mill Street, to check their properties for the missing containers. Both were white cardboard boxes with a black container inside.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Saugeen Shores Police Service at 519-832-2500 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
