A survey to collect labour market data in Bruce, Grey, Huron and Perth counties is now open and seeks to provide insights about the current workforce challenges and opportunities in the region.

The survey was originally planned for 2021 but was put on hold due to added pressures as a result of the pandemic. The revised survey is said to reflect current trends and has been shortened to reduce the time required to complete.

On behalf of a Four County Labour Market Planning Board, the EmployerOne survey will collect labour market demand data for the region, information that is crucial to building a strong and resilient workforce, read an October 31 media release from Grey County.

"With a chronic low unemployment rate and the recent pandemic; our employers and community stakeholders are facing critical shortages in the labour force. The final report will be released to schools, community partners, government agencies, and the public to support local stakeholder planning and skills development," read the release.

The survey is for all employers with at least one employee in Bruce, Grey, Huron and Perth, and should be completed by a representative who can speak to the organization’s workforce experiences in 2022. The survey consists of approximately 20 questions and will take approximately five minutes to complete. "Your responses will be collected anonymously and data will be published in aggregate form only," the release said.

“We would like to extend a huge thank you to our local employers, advisory partners and funders for your support of this and other projects undertaken by the Four County Labour Market Planning Board”, said Dana Soucie, County of Grey Interim Executive Director.

The service is funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario, and is a collaboration with the four counties as well as the City of Stratford, the Town of St. Marys, the Town of Hanover and the Huron Manufacturing Association.

The survey opened November 1 and will remain open until January 31, 2023.
