Southampton Rotary's Shop with a Cop is returning November 4 at Vanderwerf's Independent Grocer in Port Elgin.

Beginning at 1pm, teams consisting of one Saugeen Shores police officer and two Grade 6 students from four area schools will go on a 30 minute shopping spree in support of the Salvation Army Food Bank.

In addition, participating teams from GC Huston Public School, Northport Elementary School, École Port Elgin Saugeen Central School, and St Joseph's School will be competing for a chance to win a prize for their school.

The goal is to get closest to $150 worth of grocery items needed for the food bank, without going over. Southampton Rotary will purchase all the collected items by the four teams for the food bank and donate an extra $100 in the winning school's name.

"Southampton Rotary wishes good luck to all the teams and a big thank you to the Saugeen Shores Police Service and our local schools for freeing up these brave contestants to be part of this worthwhile event," read a recent Southampton Rotary release. "In the end, the fun will translate into fewer empty cupboards in our area."
