Chris Knott memorial tournament in its 21st year

The 21st annual Chris Knott Memorial Hockey Tournament saw the Saugeen Shores Storm Novice Rep team make it into the finals during the three-day tournament November 18 to 20.

In an intense final game against North Middlesex County, the rep team were overtaken 3-2 in overtaken. They had met the same team earlier in the tournament and were victorious with a score of 7-4 and were undefeated going into the finals having beaten Flesherton 15-0 and Lampton Shores 8-0.

The Saugeen Shores Atom AE Storm team beat Kincardine's team 3-2 and the Paris team 4-0, but couldn’t find a victory against the Lincoln team with a final score of 2-3, leaving them one goal short of making it into the finals.

In the Peewee division, Saugeen Shores beat Shallow Lake 7-5 before succumbing to the Paris team 1-7 and the Lucan team 5-0.

The tournament is dedicated to Christopher Knott, a resident of Port Elgin and former Kincardine Bulldog who passed away in a diving accident in 1996.

The alumni game that typically takes place as part of the annual tournament did not happen this year, however, a skills completion, hosted by Brett Martin took place on November 19.
