Saugeen Shores Minor Hockey Association (SSMHA) presented a cheque for $950 to the Canadian Tire Jumpstart charity December 15. The donation came from money raised at the annual Chris Knott Memorial Hockey Tournament which was held in November.

SSMHA Tournament Director Alison Charbonneau, along with some Saugeen Shores Storm players who took part in the tournament, handed the cheque to Mike and Eleanor Mowbray, owners of Mowbray's Canadian Tire in Port Elgin.

Jumpstart is a Canadian Tire charity that raises funds to help families cover costs associated with children’s activities, with all the money raised through the Jumpstart program at Mowbray's Canadian Tire going to benefit the local community.

Canadian Tire was a big sponsor for SSMHA at the rep tournament, said Charbonneau. “We had three divisions, Novice, Atom and Pee Wee,” she said adding that the money was raised through registration fees, a raffle and room sponsorships.

“Jumpstart is really good and it's a good partnership because it feeds back into registration," Charbonneau said.
