Ben Antler is taking the reins following two seasons as Assistant Coach.
The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks announced Tuesday the hiring of Ben Antler as the team’s new Head Coach.
In a Winterhawks media release, the Port Elgin native has spent the past two seasons as an Assistant Coach and will now assume the head coaching duties.
“We’ve been impressed with Ben’s progression over the past two seasons and it felt like the time was right to let him take the reins,” said the team's General Manager Ryan Brown.
Antler becomes the fifth head coach in Winterhawks history.
Jeff Barfoot will remain a member of the coaching staff as an Assistant Coach, a position he has held alongside Antler for the past two seasons.
Further additions to the coaching staff will be announced at the appropriate time. The organization is continuing to prepare for the return of the WOAA Sr. “AA” Hockey League in the fall of 2021.
