Town Hall to address small business support and government response to COVID-19

Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson is inviting all local small business owners to attend a virtual town hall meeting to discuss the government’s response to COVID-19 and review available programs to support impacted businesses.

In a February 2 media release, the virtual meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 10 from 2 to 3 p.m. and will be hosted by Lisa MacLeod, Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries.

The meeting is open to operators of any for profit or not-for-profit business and will cover topics including: Small Business Support Grants of up to $20,000; Property Tax and Energy Bill Rebates; Main Street Relief Grant for PPE Support of up to $1000; Not For Profit Support with Ontario Trillium Foundation (additional $100 million in COVID-19 supports beyond the $103 million annual budget); Support for Arts Organizations (additional $25 million in COVID-19 supports beyond the $60 million budget).

Pre-registration is required and participants are asked to call in five minutes prior to start time.

"The Ontario government has created several new programs to help small businesses during this unprecedented pandemic," Thompson said. "The town hall presentation will help inform participants of these helpful initiatives."
