Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) is pleased to announce EMC Power Canada Ltd. as sponsor of the Tyke Trike and Skills Circuit Children’s Rides at the Gran Fondo Lake Huron.

“The addition of these children’s rides is the icing on the cake for the Gran Fondo Lake Huron,” said Sally Kidson, SMHF Executive Director in a media release, adding that EMC Power Canada Ltd. is the perfect partner for this initiative with focus on safety, community involvement. “They are sure to organize a safe and fun time for the children,” she said.

Alexanne Pizycki, Senior Manager, Quality Assurance said EMC Power Canada Ltd. was pleased to be involved with the inaugural year and the development of the children’s events. “It fits within our corporate values and provides an opportunity for our employees to be involved with a very worthwhile community event,” she said.

The Tykes Trike Ride is for children ages 5 and under and will take place at the Coliseum, 26 Albert Street South in Southampton, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The tykes, with help from parents and caregivers if needed, will be sent out and around a mini course. Spectators are welcome to come and cheer the little ones on.

The Skills Circuit is for children ages 6 to 9 and will take place outside in the Coliseum parking lot beginning at 9:30 a.m. Participants will be required to navigate a series of simple tests.

Each participant in both the Tykes Trike Ride and the Skills Circuit will receive a goody bag and a special medal for participating. Registration is only $5 for these events.

The 2018 Gran Fondo Lake Huron is a new fundraising initiative for the Foundation. “Costs of medical equipment continue to rise and having state of the art equipment is key to prompt diagnoses and excellent care,” said Kidson. “We hope to raise $150,000 with the Gran Fondo Lake Huron for this purpose. But it is a lot more than a fundraiser for the Foundation. This event is for our entire community and beyond,” she added.
