Grass fire at Saugeen First Nation

Saugeen First Nation (SFN) Fire Department responded to a grass fire on the river flats just after 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 25.

In a SFN media release, the fire was sizeable and took over five hours to contain and extinguish.

Officials reported using two pumpers and 11 firefighters and said the occurrence was not a planned or controlled event. Fire Chief Clint Root said that the ignition point is undetermined at this time.
