Huron Shores Hospice is participating in Giving Tuesday on December 1,  to provide quality end-of-life care in their community.

In honour of Giving Tuesday, December 1, The Society of United Professionals has offered to match, dollar for dollar, all donations up to a total of $5,000 to the Huron Shores Hospice.

“The Society of United Professionals is pleased to support the important work being done by Huron Shores Hospice, looking after end-of-life care for the residents of south Bruce County. This is a valuable service for our local community. We are proud to support this initiative as a demonstration of our vision that unions build stronger communities,” said Mike Gade, Vice President of the Society of United Professionals.

Giving Tuesday is a global movement that celebrates generosity by bringing communities together. “We believe that everyone in our community deserves the right to die with dignity and compassion, supported by family members, in the community in which they live," said Cheryl Cottrill, Co-Chair of Huron Shores Hospice.

"With event fundraising dollars reduced by $55,000 in 2020, we are hoping that Giving Tuesday will help with this shortfall. We are so appreciative of the Society of United Professionals’ offer to match donations, providing double the impact for each donation," Cottrill said.

As a Giving Tuesday partner, Huron Shores Hospice hopes to help increase the spirit of giving in the local community. “We couldn’t do what we do without the support of our community,” said Cottrill. “Please join us to help ensure quality end-of-life care for residents of south Bruce County by donating at www.huronshoreshospice.ca.”
